Cinnamon Burst Cheerios Review

My family recently had the opportunity to try out new Cinnamon Burst Cheerios.  This new Cheerios has 20% of the fiber you need for the day.  They also have only 9 grams of sugar, are low in fat, and are free of saturated fat and cholesterol.  So, it's a cereal you can feel good about giving your kids.

Here's a short video showing our family's thoughts:

I was given a box of Cinnamon Burst Cheerios, info about them, and a Flip Camera from Cheerios in association with My Blog Spark in exchange for this review.  All opinions are my own.

Sunday's Song- Away In A Manger

Luke 2  vs. 4-7

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

This week the song is about the reason for the season.  Jesus!  I hope everyone takes time to remember Him this week!  Blessings to all of you!

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes;
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
and take us to heaven to live with thee there.

Chex Party Mix Giveaway

Every year around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays I make some Chex Party Mix to snack on. It is so good that I only try and make it then, or I would eat way too much, lol!  Did you know that Chex has four gluten-free cereals?  Chex Party Mix is so easy you can make it in 15 minutes in the microwave and you probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry.

I love the traditional Chex mix, but I was excited to learn there are some new recipes to try out.  There are Chex Lemon Buddies, Chex Apple Pie Snack Mix, and Tex Chex Party Mix Recipes.  You can find free recipe cards at your local Walmart.

Ready to make some Chex Party mix?  I have a Chex Party Mix Prize pack to giveaway that includes a box of Rice Chex, a set of measuring cups, and a Chex Party Mix Tote Bag.  I love how big this tote bag is!

To enter just leave a comment on this post.

For a second entry follow my blog on Google Friend Connect.

For 3 extra entries like Southern Blessings on Facebook.

Please leave a separate comment for each entry.  Giveaway is open to US residents only.  Giveaway will close on Monday night December 20th at midnight. Good Luck!

I was given a Chex Party Mix Prize pack in exchange for a review from General Mills in association with My Blog Spark.

Sunday's Song- Winter Wonderland

It's getting close to Christmas!  Are you ready yet?  I'm almost there.  Today I am sharing my favorite winter song!  It's not a hymn, but still a great tune!

Winter Wonderland

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
in the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
we're happy tonight,
walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
as we go along,
walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
when you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
the plans that we've made,
walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
and pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
until the other kiddies knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
walking in a winter wonderland.

Walking in a winter wonderland,
walking in a winter wonderland.

What A Difference

Just a couple weeks ago, you could find Hunter and Adam on the trampoline all the time.  It was still in the 60's here.  Hunter was warm enough then to just wear shorts and no shirt.  Even I was still wearing shorts.

Well, it's gotten way colder!  We've had lows in the teens.  Hunter tried at first going out with no shirt and no shoes, although I tried to tell him it was cold.  He quickly came back and bundled up in a shirt, jacket, socks, shoes and mismatched gloves.  Gosh it's hard keeping track of them.  He is in, out, in, out, and in again, in such a short period of time and each time he throws his jacket and gloves all over the place.

He doesn't mind the cold weather as long as he's bundled up like that.  He stays outside way longer than any of the other kids.  They get cold very quickly.  But he's out there still riding his 4 wheeler and chasing chickens.

Sisters

I have two Speckled Sussex hens that are almost 3 years old. They are always hanging around together just cackling away.  We have had them since they were about 3 days old. Which is a really long time for us, what with all the coyotes and wild dogs around here. They remind me of a couple old spinsters who never got married!

The one pictured above is Camaro.  My oldest, who was 10 at the time, named most of our chickens.  So there are a lot named after cars and other strange things, lol!

The one above is called Red Comb, because when she was small she had a bigger red comb than some of our roosters. If you look at the picture below, taken last year, and then at a recent picture of Red Comb, you'll see a big difference.  Here's an old pic and a new pic side by side.

When Red Comb molted this year, her feathers grew back mostly white.  It's like she's getting old, poor thing!  I hope her sister doesn't make fun of her for turning white. She's still beautiful, maybe even more so,  and one of our favorites!

Show Your Helping Hand Giveaway

Times are hard for a lot of people right now.  Unemployment is up and jobs are hard to find.  Just providing food for your family can be hard for some.  According to Feeding America, approximately 5.7 million people receive emergency food assistance from their organization in any given week.  Wow, that is such a huge number, it's hard to believe!

To help raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our country, Hamburger Helper® is partnering with GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actor Tim McGraw to help Feeding America deliver millions of meals to local food banks through the Show Your Helping Hand™ campaign. Tim McGraw will lend his voice to the campaign through a Public Service Announcement which will be distributed nationwide. Click here to view the PSA.
You can help support this campaign by entering codes from specially marked boxes of Hamburger Helper here- www.showyourhelpinghand.com or by logging on to make a donation.  Hamburger Helper has already donated more than half a million dollars and will donate up to an additional $100,000 to Feeding America through this program and all you have to do is put in the code from the box!  Don’t think one code will make a difference? The 17 cents Hamburger Helper donates per code is enough for Feeding America to deliver one meal to a local food bank!

My family loves Hamburger Helper meals.  I do too since they are so easy to make!  Tim McGraw's Southern Voice CD is awesome too!  It has so many wonderful songs on it.  My 3 year old loved the foam hand that came with the pack the best, lol!

In order to spread the word about the Show Your Helping Hand campaign Hamburger Helper is letting me give away a prize pack just like the one I received!  It includes a box of Hamburger Helper skillet meals, a Hamburger Helper foam “Helping Hand” and a copy of Tim McGraw’s “Southern Voice” CD.  Also, Hamburger Helper will make a $10 donation on your behalf to the Show Your Helping Hand™campaign!
