Over the weekend me and my husband built a new pen we can use to separate chickens. It's our hope to be able to separate them by breed, mostly. Then we can get purebred chicks off of them. But, I found another great use for it. We can use it as a hospital for sick or hurt chickens or as a place to punish bad roosters.
I'm sure you remember the rooster who was attacking my youngest son. Well, while we were out there building the pen, which is actually inside their outside run, that rooster attacked my son again. We were all in the run, helping to build the pen when it happened. It's so strange that there are 3 other roosters and Hunter can be around all of them without getting attacked. So, we can use this extra pen to put that rooster in when the little one goes outside and wants to see the chickens. It's jail for chickens.
Here's my favorite rooster, Prince. For some reason, he doesn't like my husband very much. So, this ends up happening a lot when the hubby is out there. Although, my husband does kind of egg it on. I think Prince is jealous, and he's just trying to protect me. But, if he attacks Hunter, he's going in to solitary confinement too!
My husband wanted me to make sure y'all know, he's not kicking Prince. Prince is attacking his foot. All he has to do is stick it out there, and Prince attacks. So sweet of him to defend me like that, lol!
