Beach Trip Day 2

The other day we went to Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, so my son could go to Ridemakerz. If you don't know, it's a store where you can build your own ride. They have many models to choose from. The basic models are really affordable. The price goes up according to the model. You get to pick things like your rims, wheels, sounds, spoilers, decals, and motors. Then after you have everything, you put it together right in the store.

Mitchell had been saving up his money for the beach and he spent quite a bit of it at Ridemakerz. He was very happy with the ride he made. He treats it like it's family, lol!

Since he got a car, we knew his little brother would want one too, so we picked a basic model for him. They were both really happy with their cars.

We have been eating breakfast every morning at Ocean Isle Inn's complimentary breakfast. My son has really been enjoying his waffles with syrup. In addition to waffles, they have oatmeal, yogurt, fruit cups, cereal, biscuits, bagels, coffee, juices, and milk. It's great to have so many choices, especially since my youngest can be a very picky eater.

There is a pier within within walking distance of the hotel. We went there yesterday and walked down it. See, the teddy bear backpack on Hunter. It's also a leash. I got the idea from Donna at The WV Homemaker. He loves holding the teddy bear and likes the freedom to walk without having to hold our hands.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you may already have heard that there were 2 ladies killed yesterday in a parasailing accident at the pier. Me and Mitchell had saw them in the air maybe 5 minutes or so before it happened. There was a storm coming up and the wind was blowing and I said they shouldn't be out there in that. I couldn't believe it when I saw all the ambulances and police out there. I wasn't sure what happened until we walked down the beach and saw the parasailing boat. Mitchell was really upset for a while, but we've talked for awhile about life and death, and now he's feeling better.

Yesterday was a bad day for waves and it rained yesterday afternoon, so we didn't play in the ocean much. We went in the pools. There are 2 pools at the hotel, one outside, and a heated one inside with a jacuzzi.

The outside pool starts at 2 feet deep, so Hunter could stand up and play. He had a great time in the pool and even tried to swim a little.

Neat! Ride Makerz is such a neat idea for a store!!! Looks like you guys are having a blast at the beach and the pool / hot tub looks soooo nice! I too, would definitely choose the waffles for my breakfast every day!

This is a vacation I could go for. If the weather is not so great you can swim in the pool and then appreciate the stormy weather from INSIDE your room. Plus, breakfast with lots of choices!

Never heard of Ride Makerz. My Boo would love that place. And possibly his Dad too.
So sad about the ladies. The last time I was at Myrtle Beach, the rip tides were horrible. A man saved two boys but then disappeared. They never found him. The family was from our area. So sad when things like this happen.
Glad you are having a great time.
I'm still jealous! tee hee

Thanks for the mention on the stuffed backpack. I used ours again yesterday at a festival...it worked really well for a momma on her own with 2 kids in tow! I found myself holding icecream for two kids and being thankful I had the strap on my child who would have ran off in a heartbeat.

We went to Myrtle last year and saw the Build your Rides place on the last day of our visit. My boys were so bummed that they had already spent most of their money...so they did not have enough. Next time we go I will remind them of this place. It looked like so much fun for little boys!
What a tragedy on the parasailing event...wow...that would be hard on anybody knowing you just witnessed that.
Hope the rest of your vacation goes well!

Ride makers sounds like allot of fun! I know all about the leash awesomeness!!!! They got me through many a trip with the buddies. Love them. I would let them pack a small snack and a hot wheels car in the back of theirs to keep them occupied.

What a fun time you all look like you are having! My sons would had loved Ridemakerz! They are grown and have their own cars now...but they still might like to make a toy one. By the way, the best time to find really good shells on the beach is after a rain! Have fun, blessings,Kathleen

That is too bad about the people that died, sounds like it was a terrible accident. I love the teddy bear backpack idea and what a wonderful safety feature the leash is. You just can't be too careful these days.

I do have a funny story about my cousin though. She was concerned when she first moved out to California about her young son so she got a child leash for him. The first time they went into a large, crowded store with it he got down on his hands and knees and started acting like a dog...my cousin was so embarrassed! It wouldn't have embarrassed me though, I would have thought it was cute and funny!

Jennifer, that is funny! I can understand her being embarrassed a little. Kids are silly sometimes!
