Completing Him Challenge- Praying For My Husband

This week's Completing Him Challenge is about prayer.  On Courtney's site she lists 30 things we should pray about daily for our husbands this week.  These include things like his work, his fear, his purpose, and his wife.  That is actually first on the list, lol!

Also, we are supposed to ask him specifically what he would like us to pray for that day.  I pray for my husband, but I've never thought to ask him how I could pray for him.  So, I hope that will be helpful for him to know I really care enough to pray for his specific situation.

If you would like to learn more about the Challenge, please visit Women Living Well.

Sunday's Song- The Anchor Holds

For today's song, I would like to share this video I found of The Anchor Holds.  I haven't heard this song very much, but it has some really great words.  Especially for those in times of trouble.

I hope y'all have a blessed Sunday!

Recycling Wood

We took down some fencing at Barb's house a couple weeks ago.  We are recycling everything she has and using it at our house to help get her ready for her move.  For instance, most of the shed I posted about the other day, used to be a chicken coop at her house.

My chickens were very interested in what we were building this time.  They thought maybe we were building a new pen for them.  They were happy to learn they can keep free-ranging, lol.

This fencing used to be around her yard at her home.  Down here, she'll be using it for a dog run for her outside dog.  The day we started putting it up it was around 100 degrees.  So, if we all look a little sweaty that would be why.

We started last Saturday and finished up Sunday night.  I think it will be a great place for her dog.  Next week I'll show you our next project.

Would You Like to Read The Bible In 90 Days?

As many of you know, I took the Challenge via Mom's Toolbox starting in January to read the Bible in 90 days.  It wasn't always easy, let's face it some of the Bible is kind of boring what with all the numbers and who begat who.   But with a great group of ladies encouraging me, I was able to finish reading the whole Bible in just under 90 days!

You may be thinking why read it so quickly.  To me, it just seemed more attainable being only 3 months instead of a year or two.  There were things I wanted to think on and explore more in depth, but I just hi-lighted them, so I could come back later and focus more on them.

Mom's Toolbox is starting up another read the Bible in 90 days starting on July 5th.  Here is some information if you would like to join:

Blogging through the Bible in 90 Days with MomsToolbox.com begins July 5. Participants will read every word of the Bible, check in weekly on MomsToolbox.com and be encouraged in their journey into God's Word.

Completing Him Challenge- Remember Your Vows

For today's Completing Him Challenge, we are supposed to remember our vows by sharing memories and photos of our wedding.  I found our wedding video and watched it today, so I could relive those feelings I had on that day.  I remember being excited and a little nervous that I would mess up what I was supposed to say.

Ronnie was way more nervous than me, he was white as a ghost and would hardly look at me throughout the whole ceremony.  But, the couple times he did look at me, he would finally relax and smile the sweetest smile.

Since today is about remembering our vows, here is what I said that day:

"I, Nancy, take you, Ronnie, to be my husband, to have, and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness, and in health, to love, and to cherish, until we are parted by death, this is my solemn vow."

Looking back, there has been all that, except the richer part, lol!  Back then everything seemed so much more simple when we were starting out.  Then, we only focused on the good.  It seems the longer I have been  married, I started focusing on the bad stuff.  I hope that I can change that, and go back to celebrating the little things, the happy things.

After celebrating our wedding with our family and friends, we went to Savannah, Georgia and spent our wedding night.  Then on to Daytona Beach and Disney World, where I fell in love all over again, with Disney and Ronnie!

Busy And A Prayer Request

We have been so busy lately.  We have built a storage shed and we are in the process of adding a room, well, kinda two rooms.  I don't know if you've read Barb's blog at Victoria Hill Farm lately or not.  She has been left on her own and can't afford her home all by herself, so she and her kids are moving in with us for awhile.

My husband has been busy building a storage building for some of her things and taking down fences and bringing them down here.  See, just about every other weekend we have been up at her house helping her get things ready for her move to SC.  So, if I haven't visited your blog lately, I haven't forgotten, I'll be back when things slow down.

If you could say a prayer for Barb and her kids, I would appreciate it.  I know the move is going to be hard on the kids.  Having to move a few hours away from their friends and church is difficult for them to understand.  Barb is having such a tough time right now, she doesn't want to lose the home she worked so hard to make nice for her family.  Sharing a home, will be difficult for both our families.  But, I hope with prayer we will be able to make it through.  I want to be able to help them get back on their feet again.

Book Review- The Chronological Guide To The Bible

While reading the Bible this year, I kept noticing how different books repeated the same things from previous books.  I learned that was because they were written from different points of view.  But, still I wasn't sure which order they all went in, until I received The Chronological Guide To The Bible.

This book divides the Bible into epochs from creation to the end of times.  Each epoch has summaries of the books of that time period, an outline of events from that book, and a time capsule with dates of these events.

One of the things I like are the maps and pictures that are included.  They really helped to keep my attention.  The Chronological Guide To The Bible can be used as a guide to go along with your own Bible.  It should work with any translation.  Another thing I like is how they explain how Biblical accounts fit in with scientific finds.

I have only read the Bible all the way through one time, so I'm no expert, but I think the information in this book is very helpful.  It put things into perspective, giving me an idea of what each epoch was like at the time.  I think The Chronological Guide To The Bible would be a good resource for anyone to go along with reading the Bible.

I was sent The Chronological Guide To The Bible from Book Sneeze in exchange for a review.

Completing Him Challenge- The Dating Days

It's week 1 of Courtney's Completing Him Challenge.  This week we are supposed to share our dating story and pictures.

I met my husband, Ronnie, on December 24, 1989.   I remember it very clearly.  At the time I was in an abusive relationship with his cousin and living in NC.  I visited Ronnie's home in SC often with his cousin over the next few months.

Once I went over there with a friend, but without his cousin, and Ronnie told me he wanted me to date him instead.  He said his cousin wasn't good enough for me.  I thought he was so sweet, but crazy.  See, at the time Ronnie was only 15 and I was 19!

I kept thinking about what he said, and after a month or so, I decided to get out of the bad relationship.  About a month later I moved to S.C. near where Ronnie lived.  We started dating not long after that.

We lived at the lake that summer.  Just about every morning we would drive down there with friends and a lot of times we didn't come back til after dark.  I remember feeling so free riding down the road with the T-tops off and the wind in our hair!  Not thinking about what time it was, or of anything, except each other.  That was the best summer!

We broke up in the fall, but remained best of friends.  We dated a couple other people, but by January, we had gotten back together again and haven't been apart since.

The next fall I was hurt at work and had to move back in with my mom.  Ronnie was only 17, but didn't want to be apart from me.  He ran away from home to live with my mom and I after much begging and pleading with my mom!  He got a job right away and my mom fell in love with him too. We were engaged in the Spring of 1992.

Courtney asks us what we'd like to regain from those dating days.  I think what I'd like to regain is some of that spontaneity.  We're still very flexible people, but it is hard to just pick up and go quickly when you have kids and pets.  I'd really like for us to have at least a day all to ourselves this summer.

Things I Love Thursday- For My Laptop

Ever since I got a laptop a little over a year ago, I've had problems with my wireless mouse.  Well, it's not really the mouse, it's the receiver, you know the little stick that you put in the USB port that communicates with the mouse.

The receivers that usually come with mice are long and when you have a two year old climbing on you all the time, that can be bad.  I already had two of them break apart when I discovered that some mice come with micro receivers.  I found one at Wal Mart for around the same price as the ones with the regular receivers.

Look at the huge difference in size!  The new one is so small, I can just leave it in all the time.  It never gets in the way and it would be impossible to break it off like the other kind.  I love it!

I am linking up this post with Things I Love Thursday at The Diaper Diaries.

Completing Him Challenge

I am joining in with Courtney from Women Living Well in her Completing Him Challenge.  Here's a short video describing the challenge:

I try to stay on the right path, but too often I start back with making unkind comments or not putting my husband first.  I can be very selfish, but I hope this will help me get back to where I need to be!

I would love it if some of my readers joined too!  If you have, or are going to, let me know!

Sunday's Song- The Old Account Was Settled

The Old Account Was Settled

There was a time on earth, when in the book of Heav'n
An old account was standing for sins yet unforgiv'n;
My name was at the top, and many things below,
I went unto the Keeper, and settled long ago.

Refrain
Long ago (down on my knees), long ago (I settled it all),
Yes, the old account was settled long ago (Hallelujah!);
And the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away,
When the old account was settled long ago.

The old account was large, and growing every day,
For I was always sinning, and never tried to pay;
But when I looked ahead, and saw such pain and woe,
I said that I would settle, I settled long ago.

Refrain
Long ago (down on my knees), long ago (I settled it all),
Yes, the old account was settled long ago (Hallelujah!);
And the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away,
When the old account was settled long ago.

When in that happy home, my Savior's home above,
I'll sing redemption's story, and praise Him for His love;
I'll not forget that book, with pages white as snow,
Because I came and settled, and settled long ago.

Refrain

Long ago (down on my knees), long ago (I settled it all),
Yes, the old account was settled long ago (Hallelujah!);
And the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away,
When the old account was settled long ago.

O sinner, trust the Lord, be cleansed of all your sin,
For thus He hath provided for you to enter in;
And then if you should live a hundred years below,
Up there you'll not regret it, you settled long ago.

Refrain
Long ago (down on my knees), long ago (I settled it all),
Yes, the old account was settled long ago (Hallelujah!);
And the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away,
When the old account was settled long ago.

Declutter Challenge- May Update

It's time for the May update to Amy's Declutter Challenge.  I had really high hopes for May, but it didn't work out like I hoped.

I was only able to get rid of a few odds and ends, nothing worth mentioning, really.  So, my May total was 21 items.  That is just so sad!  I had hoped to do better, but it was a really busy month.  I hope this month will be better!

My total for the year, so far is 304.  When I look at that, I don't feel so bad!  To see what others are getting rid of go visit Amy.

An Abundance Of Eggs

Recently we were given a flock of bantams by a friend.  They are so cute!

We got a miniature version of my full size Partridge Cochin rooster.  His name is Edward, and he's so sweet!  With him came all his hens of various breeds.

This past week in one day we got 24 eggs!  Two dozen eggs in one day!  I couldn't believe it!  There is a mixture of full-size eggs and banty eggs.  A couple of the banties are Easter Eggers and lay blue and green eggs.

We went outside and counted to see how many hens we had and we have 34 hens.  I was shocked we have so many!  Some of them are over 2 years old, so I'm not sure if they are laying and one of them is with her chick and not laying.  So, I'm wondering how many we have that are actually laying?  Anyone want some eggs?
