Mac's birthday

Today was my preacher's son's birthday. He told a story at church today about Mac. When Mac was 14 months old they were at the doctor. He was having a bunch of health problems and the doctor told them that it was their own fault for having to deal with it. He told them they should have aborted Mac like they were told before he was born. The doctors said he would never make it to his second birthday.

This story made me so mad at that doctor. How could he say that to someone who is sitting there with a little baby who is alive. Sure, Mac is developmentally disabled, but he's alive. I would have had such a fit with that doctor.

Of course my preacher and his wife didn't listen when they told them they should abort their baby. They decided that wasn't their decision to make. If the Lord wanted to take their baby, it would be his decison, not theirs. They would love him while he was here. No matter how long that would be. If he was only here 2 years, they would love him all they could in those 2 years.

Today was Mac's birthday. He turned 18 years old! We had a great party for him at the church. He got so many gifts and a bunch of money. He had such a great time! I think his favorite present was a football helmet that was signed by his high school's team. It was such a blessing to be able to be there and watch him open his presents. He's such a great kid, he loves everyone.

Happy Birthday Mac! We hope you have a great year!

What a horrible thing for the doctor to say. Good for Mac and Mac's parent's. I hope Mac has many, many more happy birthdays.
