Taxes

We moved to the home we are in last year. So, this is the first time we have got a tax bill for our new home. It came last week and it was shocking, to say the least. We live in the country so we don't have a city tax. The bill was for almost $1500. I almost had a heart attack. I knew there was no way we could afford to pay that with only my husband working. I was very scared. But, I told my husband not to worry about it. I hate to worry him, because he takes it so hard being the sole provider.

We went to the tax office and talked to them. It turns out all 3 of our bills were either coded wrong or something similar. They told us they would figure things out and we would get new bills in a few days. The lady in the office said it would probably cut the bill in half. They came in the mail today. I had been praying they would be much lower. The new bill was $300. A little over $1100 less than the old one. I was ecstatic! It is such a blessing to not have to worry where that extra money will come from.

If you get a scary tax bill in the mail, don't be afraid to go to the tax office to make sure it's right. It could save you a bunch of money!

Oh, my goodness! What a huge mistake. Thank goodness you called them on their error before you paid them all that money. I wonder how many others are paying too many taxes because of a "coding" error?
