Morning on the farm

When I got up to let the chickens out this morning it was very cold. But I was greeted by the sunrise. It was so pretty.

The chickens are always eager to get out of their coop. If you don't get out of their way, they might knock you down. This is Ella, she flew out of the coop.

This rooster is named Kid Rock. He is a Partridge Cochin. He's gorgeous, isn't he?

They like their morning snack of scratch feed. Later they will forage for grasshoppers and bugs. The yellow hen is Ella. You can also see guineas hanging around behind her. The hen looking at the camera is Fluffy. She's one of my best layers. My friend Barb is giving me her rooster so Fluffy will have a mate. I hope to have biddies next spring!

No post would be complete without my favorite rooster, Prince. He would be upset if I didn't show you his picture. He's my sweetheart!

On the way back in the house I was surprised to see how much the sun had come up while I was visiting with my chickens. It's amazing what God can do!

One more shot, just cause it's cute! My little baby Yoda.

I love sunrises too, Nancy. It's so wonderful to be outside when the sun comes up!

you should send Yoda out to feed the chickens! They might not rush at you if they saw that mask!

That sunrise pic is gorgeous!

I'm jealous of your chickens...I wish I could keep some, but I think my neighbors would object.
