Our Good Luck Dinner

I always knew that you were supposed to eat ham, black-eyed peas, greens, and cornbread for New Year's dinner. I just didn't know what kind of luck you got. But, I read the other day on Tatersmama's blog that ham is for looking forward, peas are for pennies, greens are for dollars, and cornbread is for gold. I can't believe I never heard that before!

Look at all that good old southern food. You'd think I cook it all the time. Well, actually I had never made collards, so that was new for me. And the peas we usually eat come in a can, so this was my first time making a bag of them. I made sure to eat lots of cornbread, so maybe I'll get some gold this year, lol! I hope y'all had a lucky meal to start off your year too!

Thanks for the Flip info, I also liked that it was small and easy. I just like to talk to someone who has actually used it, before I buy it, ya know? I thought the vid looked great. Have a great week!

Nancy,
I don't know about monetary riches, but my New Year has sure started out with riches of the "friends" kind... and it doesn't get much better than that!

I'm so glad I found your blog - and you!
(((hugs)))

Girl, you know how to eat! That is one of my favorite meals. Shucks, its 11pm and I don't have time to prepare a meal like that tonight.

Smiles,
Lea
