Friendship Bread
About a week and a half ago someone at church gave me a bag of mush with directions on how to take care of it. She said it was easy, so I said I would give it a try. Some of y'all have probably heard of, or tried it. It's called Friendship bread, supposedly started by the Amish.
The directions said to mush the bag every day. On the sixth day you're supposed to add more ingredients to the bag and mush again. You keep mushing until the tenth day, then you add some more stuff and split it up. You put the parts you split into baggies to give to someone else as a starter for the bread.
I was kind of skeptical of this whole thing. It said to put all this cinnamon in it and on top. Since it made 3 pans of bread, I decided to make 2 without the cinnamon and one with it, beacuse I wasn't sure if I would like all that cinnamon.
As it turns out, without cinnamon, it tastes pretty much like cake. Nothing like bread! My oldest son loves the cinnamon one. He said it is the best thing ever. Maybe I should have made them all with cinnamon. But, heck, I was expecting it to be bread, not cake! Have you ever tried it? Do you like it?

I love friendship bread, but it never ends, good luck trying to give all the starter batches away, within a month or 2 you'll be tired of it!
We love this stuff!! Next time try layering the batter and then brown sugar w/ cinn. then batter.
Top with cinn/brown sugar!! so yummy. The children just love it. Three loaf'e don't last long around here :-) You can freeze the batter for about two months, just start with day one when it is thawed out.
We have not had any in awhile. Too bad you live so far away. We would love a bag !!!
Blessings-

My Mom did this when I was little and I think she got tired of it. If I remember correctly, she fed hers potato flakes or something like that. It was good. She put raisins in hers sometimes.
I've heard of this but never actually made any.
I have heard of it but never tasted it. Looks great!!!
I wish I lived closer also. I would love a bag. I haven't done this in years.
mmmm.... looks so yummy!
