Baby Chicks Update

Some of y'all asked for an update on the baby chicks. They are 2 weeks old now. When they were a couple days old one of the yellow ones died. Then about a week ago, the other yellow one disappeared completely. I'm not sure what happened to it, maybe a snake?

The other 2 are growing and seem to be doing very well. They are so pretty. Mama hen lets us pick them up and hold them, but if another chicken comes near, she goes off on them. It's really funny to see! She's a good protector. I love it when she fluffs out like this.

What pretty pictures you shared Nancy. Are you suffering from the high temps like we are in GA??? nearly 100 all week long.

oh wow they've grown so much, I've been wondering about them and you. Glad to see you posting. :) Akk, you've had that heat too Mildred? We've had 100 all week (thought that was just for the desert, I hate this) and at night the clouds come back and we get these VERY loud thunder and lightening storms and then wake to the heat again. UGH. Kids are NOT sleeping, which means neither is mom.

Chicks grow so quickly, and in 4 or 5 months the little pullets will be laying eggs of their own! I just love watching chicks and chickens..

100 degrees is beyond my melting point, I hit that at about 80 degrees.

They are really cute! The mother hen sure is pretty and a very good mother from the looks of it.

How precious! There is nothing sweeter than seeing a mamma hen with her chicks. Maybe these two will make it to grow big enough. blessings,Kathleen

Sorry about the two you lost, Nancy, but hopefully the others will make it just fine. I love to see Momma hens puff up like that too!
