Bread Machine Mistake #1

Last night I was hurrying so I could get to our church. We're doing a drama and I was supposed to help out.  I didn't want my husband to be hungry while I was gone, so I was going to put the ingredients in the bread machine, so he would have some bread to eat.  Only I forgot something.  Something critical.

I think it's called the paddle.  I had washed it, and forgot to put it back in.  Because I was in such a hurry I didn't realize it.  When the machine was "done", the bread was not.   It was quite disgusting looking.  My poor hubby had to wait until I got home at 10 last night for me to cook something else for him.  I hate that I wasted ingredients for a loaf of bread, but at least my chickens enjoyed it this morning.

May be a good post in that lesson there Nancy! How one little thing left out can make the whole thing fail???

Love you -

Oh Nancy, don't feel bad! I've forgotten to put the paddle in before too, and when I opened the lid, nothing was mixed, and I was completely bewildered.

Also, I once put too little water in, and the bread looked more like a big rectangular cracker. Blech.

Oh bless your heart! I have done the same thing! Also, once in a while, the bread pulls the paddle off while rising and when it is time for the dough to beat down, it wont! LOL. blessings,Kathleen

I hate when something like that happens. It really discourages me from wanting to bake! At least it was a treat for the chickens.

I keep telling people, get chickens. Nothing in the food department goes to waste...you can give them all sorts of left-overs and scraps and they squawk at you as if you have served them a gourmet dish! And indeed , you did!Your reward, or "tip" from them for such wonderful fare will be fresh eggs, now how can you beat that?

this sounds like something I would do IF I ever took the paddle out (which I don't so I don't loose it).

Bless your heart, honey- I know how that feels. More than one time I've messed up and had to give the chickens an extra special treat, but at least THEY enjoyed it! *LOL*

that is so funny; however I am sure your hubby could have found something to sustain him somewhere in your house! hA!

Nancy wow I don't even know what a paddle is lol so don't be to upset. I am glad you stopped over to visit me today and little Isabel's meet, she has been so busy lately she hasn't had time to blog. I think it's great your son joined the kids's blogs its so fun to talk to other children the same age. They were happy about that.

Have a blessed day, Glad your husband has been able to work without the rain problem, we are still seeking a job here for my hubby he's been outa work for almost 3 months, send a pray up the Lord for me if you get a chance time is getting harder with the holidays approaching quickly.

Blessings,
Heidi

Oops, it doesn't look very appetising but at least the chooks enjoyed it!

I hate making mistakes but it's a good reminder that we're not perfect and we need to slow down sometimes!

(thanks so much for your comments and thoughts on my survey, I appreciate that very much)

I've done this once before, Nancy. It was quite a surprise when I realized what had happened!

Oh, dear! Well, somehow I wedged my paddle in my bread machine so good I can't get it out. It's been stuck for a few years. Those things seem to create trouble one way or another.

Sounds like something I would do.
He's lucky that you didn't make him wait for another batch to mix, rise and bake! tee hee

Been there, done that!! Isn't great, though, to be able to send your "failures" outside to be relished???
