Beach trip

We had been hoping to take a weekend trip to the beach in September. But, on Friday, my husband got off from work early. So, we decided on the spur of the moment to just go then. We hadn't been anywhere since December of 2006. That is a long time for me! I love to go places. And this time, I got to take my new little one.

We got down to Myrtle Beach pretty late, and stayed in a dumpy Rodeway Inn. I am so glad I only paid for one night there. My little one thought since we were on vacation, he didn't need any sleep. So he stayed up all Friday night. We tried, and tried to get him to go to sleep, but he just wanted to play.

The next morning we went to Huntington Beach State Park. We went there a few years ago and had a great time. We saw alligators, stingrays, and the beach was pretty empty. This time we went we had a picnic and then went on down to the beach. It was more crowded this time, but still not too many people.

Hunter loved the ocean. Being up all night with him was all forgotten when we saw the look on his face. He was a little scared at first to go to the water. His daddy held his hand and let him test the waters out.

Mitchell loves this place, also. He finds crabs, clams, and fish to play with. He thought it was "cool" to show his little brother all the things he found.

After a while, we took the baby to the beach towels to rest for a bit while his brother played. But he was not happy about that. He took off running for the ocean, but fell and got sand all in his mouth, nose, and eyes. That didn't seem to bother him as much as it did me. I tried to get it off of him, but couldn't get it all. He didn't care, he just wanted to get back in the water.

We had a great time there! No one wanted to leave, but I told them if they wanted to stay another night, I needed to find us a hotel. We found a room at Sea Mist, one of our favorite resorts.

We washed the sand off the baby and rested, then hit the resort's waterpark. I remember bringing Mitchell here when he was little, he seemed a lot more scared of the water than his little brother is. Mitchell had a blast this time. He rode the little water slides first, then the big one. He totally loved it. This is him sliding down.

While he was off doing his own thing, we took his little brother to the kiddie splash park. He would walk for a while, then fall in the water. Hunter didn't seem to be bothered by getting all the water in his eyes. He would just get right back up, and go again.

He doesn't usually like the swings. Maybe it was because it was in the water, but he loved this swing! He would get mad if you stopped pushing him. He even got under the mushroom that sprays water down. He's my brave little one.

We had a great little weekend vacation. I am so glad that Hunter was able to see the ocean for the first time. Now, we can't wait to go back!

I love Myrtle...in the winter when it's not over-run with people! Looks like your littlest one is going to be a true beach bum! He sure seems to love it.
