Coupons at Walmart

Last week I went to Walmart just to do a little shopping. When I tried to give the cashier my coupons, she wouldn't take the internet printable coupons. I asked why, and she said it was a policy they started around the end of last year. I explained I had been there since then and used them with no problem. So, I asked her to check and make sure. She spoke with customer service and they said the same thing. So, I asked her to take the items I was going to buy with the coupons off my order, and she did.

Now, I know others have had problems using internet coupons, but this was a first for me. I have read on Freebies 4 Mom and other places about this. They recommend bringing a copy of Walmart's coupon policy to the store with you. Since I did not have this with me, I did not try to force the issue.

However, when I got home, I e-mailed Walmart directly and inquired of their policy, just to be sure. You can imagine my surprise when just a few days later, I received a call from Walmart. I spoke with the manager of the store and she apologized for them not taking my coupons. She also gave me her name and the other manager's name as well, in case I have any problems in the future. I was assured the staff would be reminded of the correct policy as well. I was very happy with the way they addressed my problem.

To avoid this problem, you may want to print their coupon policy here, and take it with you when you go.

That is a great idea to print the coupon policy for a store before using an internet printer coupon.

It might even be a good idea to keep a binder in the car to save them.

I know some places in my area that can accept or take coupons depending on what cashier you get.

I have had problems off and on with Walmart, but usually when I question it they go ahead and honor them. it is so frustrating though to have stores question your legitimate use of coupons that they are going to get reimbursed for. Nice of the store to call you back though.

Wow, I am really impressed! The hubs was fed up with Walmart (that they used to only buy American made, and no longer do that) until he saw a special about their headquarters. It is in an old building, nothing fancy. Just down to Earth, glad they called you. I have to admit that with kids it is easier to go to ONE place and get everything than run all over creation hunting down say notebook paper, Caffeine Free Coke, and toothbrushes, lol.

I didn't know about this, so thank you for the heads up on the coupon thing. I'll print out the policy and carry it with me! Thank you!

I've heard of this about Walmart. We just had a Super Walmart open here last week. I'll be putting a copy of their policy in my purse.
