The Bible In 90 Days- Final Check-In

Yesterday was day 90 in my journey to read the Bible in 90 days.  When I started, I was scared of failure.  I'm not the best person at sticking to things, so I wasn't really sure if I could do it.  But, I thought with the inspiration of some really great ladies, who had signed up for the challenge, maybe I could.

The first month, I did really good.  I only got behind a day or two at a time.  So, it wasn't hard to catch up.  However in the last month or so, I had some really busy, hard days, and ended up getting behind by about 10 days!  I thought there was no way I could catch up.  I tried not to stress myself too much, and decided even if I didn't finish in 90 days, it would be okay, as long as I did finish.

Somewhere during that time, I thought I should  try to catch up a little at time.  Amazingly, I ended up caught up again about a week ago!  I don't know how I did it, but I thank the Lord for helping me!  I actually finished reading the Bible a few days before our challenge was up!

I have a lot of questions and things I hi-lighted in my Bible that I am going to go back and look into more in-depth.  I learned so much, and yet I know I have so much more to learn!  I would like to thank Mom's Toolbox for sponsoring this challenge!  Without you I never would have tried!

If you would like to take the challenge, Mom's Toolbox is sponsoring another read the Bible in 90 days, starting on July 5th!

Celebrating Earth Hour

Saturday night our family celebrated Earth Hour by cutting all the lights and tvs off and going outside.

My oldest son had been wanting to roast marshmallows, so he drug all the old limbs and branches into where we are planning to plant our garden and my husband started a bonfire.

I went and got all the things needed to make smores.  We used to make them all the time in scouts and Mitchell had really missed them.

Hunter didn't really care for the smores or roasted marshmallows.  So, he just kicked back with some candy.  In my chair!  He kept stealing it from me, even though he had his own.  He had been playing in the dirt and boy was he a mess!

I actually remembered to get a picture with me in it!  Me and my gorgeous, wild boys!  Gotta love them!

We had such a great time!  We're going to have to do this more often!

Sunday's Song- Rise Again

I haven't heard this one in a long while.  I hope y'all have a blessed Sunday!

Rise Again

Go ahead drive the nails in My hands,
Laugh at Me where you stand.
Go ahead, and say it isn't Me,
The day will come when you will see,

'Cause I'll rise again.
There's no power on earth can tie Me down.
Yes, I'll rise again,
Death can't keep Me in the ground.

Go ahead mock My name,
My love for you is still the same.
Go ahead and bury Me,
But very soon I will be free.

'Cause I'll rise again.
There's no power on earth can tie Me down.
Yes, I'll rise again,
Death can't keep Me in the ground.

Go ahead, and say I'm dead and gone,
But you will see that you were wrong.
Go ahead, and try to hide the Son,
But all will see that I'm the One.

"Cause I'll come again.
There's no power on earth can keep it back.
Yes, I'll come again;
Come to take My people back
Yes I'll come again;
Come to take My people back.

    Wacky Fashion Show

This past Saturday our church had a wacky fashion show and auction to raise money for our summer mission trip to Salkehatchie.  Those are our church clowns in the above picture.

They were praying for their friend to forgive them.

I thought I would show y'all some of the fashions we modeled.  Above we have a flower girl, she was a little bit shy!

Above is a picture of someone with bell bottoms on.

And here I am in my bathing suit! I think everyone loved my suit, lol!   Pictured below we have a ball gown.  It was cute because the little girl she was holding had balls on her dress too!

Some of the other models had on mini-skirts, a double breasted suit, a motorcycle jacket, and a party dress.  I would like to thank my best friend Barb for taking these pictures!  We ended up raising $462 for the trip!

    Sunday's Song- Lean On Me

For today's song, I wanted to share the song that we sang at church last night.  This isn't a hymn like I normally post, but still a very uplifting song!  I am blessed to have the most wonderful, supportive church family.  They are always ready to help anyone who needs something.  I lean on them a lot!  But, even if we didn't have someone on earth to lean on, we'll always have Jesus!

    Lean On Me

    Sometimes in our lives
    We all have pain
    We all have sorrow
    But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    'Til I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

    Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
    That you won't let show

    (Chorus)
You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
    That you can't carry
    I'm right up the road
    I'll share your load
    If you just call me

    (Chorus)
You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Call me (if you need a friend)
    Call me (call me)
Call me (if you need a friend)
Call me (if you ever need a friend)
    Call me (call me)
    Call me
Call me (if you need A friend)

    Our Nerf Party

Today my son and his friends participated in the World's Largest Nerf Party.  It's in celebration of a little boy named Mason fighting and winning his battle with cancer.

Mitchell, Hunter, Justin and Adam got their Nerf guns and headed outdoors to do battle.

They were all over the place, so it was really hard to get good pictures of them.

The boys had a really good time chasing and shooting each other.

Congratulations Mason!  We really enjoyed partying with you!

    Building A Shop

Ever since we moved to the country my husband has wanted to build a shop.  A place where he can work on cars and keep all his tools and things.  However, not long after we moved, I got chickens, so he had to build them a coop.  Then, later they had to have a bigger run, so he built that.  Next, I got banties and they needed a separate coop, so he built that.  I guess you can see where I'm going with this, lol!  Ever since we moved, he has been doing things for me, instead of for himself.

This year he decided it was time to build his shop.  Now, we don't have very much money, so we're having to build it using as little money as possible.  He found some used wood and trusses that were from old turkey barns.  That was a lot cheaper than buying new.  We could never have afforded that!

My husband has had me busy the past couple of weekends helping.  I am SO not cut out for manual labor, lol!  But, I've been pulling old nails out of the wood, holding ladders, and doing anything else I can to help him.  He said that's been a great help to him, even though it doesn't seem like I'm doing a lot.  I've also helped him put up the 4x6 poles for the frame of the shop.  Boy were they heavy!

We were very thankful to have the help of his Uncle Ike.  He helped to make sure the building was square and helped to lift the trusses with his bobcat.  They are extremely heavy.  It took me, my husband, and our son to flip them over just so we could get the nails out.  Now it's starting to look like a real building.

I'll post more on the progress of the shop later.

Sunday's Song- What A Friend We Have In Jesus

These words are really speaking to me right now.  We need to remember that no matter how bad things get, we can give Him all our worries.

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

    1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
    everything to God in prayer.

    2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

    3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

    I hope y'all have a blessed Sunday!

    Giveaway and Review- Exergen TemporalScanner

    Exergen Corporation

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Exergen TemporalScanner. It's an infrared thermometer that takes a reading from the temporal artery. It gets a more accurate temperature than any other way. It accurately registers body temperature to within +0.2 degrees.  It's also less invasive and quicker. All you do is swipe it across the forehead.

My 2 year old son loves this thermometer. He kept asking me to check his temperature again and again. To check his temperature I push the button to turn it on, and then hold the button down while I run it from the middle of his forehead to the side. Then it gives me his temperature. I checked it several times and it was the same each time.

    Exergen Corporation

I love how simple it is to use. I can even check his temperature while he sleeps since all it does is sweep across his forehead. It only takes seconds! I also like how it takes a 9 volt battery instead of a hard to find button type battery.

The Exergen TemporalScanner is sold at Wal Mart, Walgreens, and other stores nationwide. Prices start around $30 and there is a $5 rebate here.  You can also find them on Facebook.

Would you like a chance to win one?  Exergen is giving one of my readers a TemporalScanner.  To enter:

    • Visit their site and tell me what you like most about the Exergen TemporalScanner
    • For another entry be a follower of my blog
    • For another entry tweet about this giveaway
    • For 2 extra entries post about this giveaway on your blog
Please leave a separate comment for each entry.

This giveaway is open to the US and Canada.  Giveaway will close Wednesday night March 17th at midnight.  Good Luck!

I received this thermometer in exchange for a review from Exergen in association with Mama Bzz.

    Hometown Seeds

Today it got to 70 degrees!  It's hard to believe that until a few days ago we had been having below normal temps.  It was so nice today I really started dreaming of my garden for this year.  The pictures from this post are from last year's garden.

I was getting ready to order some seeds for this year when I heard about Hometown Seeds.  They don't sell any genetically modified seeds.  This is very important, as I want my food to be as natural as possible.  I can't wait to have fresh veggies from our garden again!

Hometown seeds has a great offer right now on their Survival Seeds.  You get 16 different varieties of Non-Hybrid GMO free seeds for $39.99.  If frozen they would last up to 10 years!  It never hurts to be better prepared.

In exchange for this post I will receive a package of Survival Seeds from Hometown Seeds.
